Ultras sneak into Darhal PS

Rajouri: Terrorists sneaked into Darhal police station early today night and made an unsuccessful attempt to kill the Station House Officer (SHO) while troops eliminated two terrorists in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district this evening. A group of terrorists forced their entry into Darhal police station at 0145 hours. They fired a volley of shots on the SHO’s room. Firing was effectively replied by police and IRP personnel from inside the police station. The terrorists were forced to flee away from the police station. However, the ultras took positions atop a hill and continued firing on the police station till 0530 hours. Official sources said a number of bullets landed inside the residential quarter of the SHO. Sub Inspector Sanmeet Gupta, who was officiating as SHO in place of Rajesh Sharma, who was on leave, had a narrow escape in the firing. Enforcement of police and security forces was rushed to Darhal this morning to launch a search operation for the terrorists but they remained untraced. Police officers including SP Rajouri M K Sinha and DySP Headquarters Chowdhary Haq Nawaz rushed to Darhal this morning for on spot investigations. Role of police and IRP personnel, deployed at Darhal police station, was appreciated by the police officers. A Special Police Officer (SPO) Mukhtiar Ahmed sustained minor injuries in the attack. Meanwhile, troops gunned down two terrorists at village Bachianwali in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district this evening. The terrorists were eliminated after an hour long encounter. They have not been identified but both of them were stated to be hailing from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Two AK-56 rifles, two magazines, eight rounds and a wireless set were recovered from the site of encounter. Sources said the encounter was still going on and some more terrorists were likely to be killed or captured as they had been surrounded in a forest area. After killing of two terrorists, the others had escaped to the forests. Our Udhampur correspondent adds: a civilian was killed by the terrorists inside his house at village Moila in Gool tehsil of Udhampur district last night. He has been identified as Ghulam Rasool son of Mohd Sikander Shan. The terrorists escaped after the killing. Police was investigating the killing for which no reason has been ascertained. Another group of terrorists struck in village Gajhamma in Gool and torched the house of Mohd Abdullah son of Jamma Gujjar. The house was reduced to a rubble and all household goods were burnt inside. The house inmates, however, managed to come out in time. Meanwhile, Counter Intelligence (CI) post in Sangaldan today arrested three militants and recovered three kg RDX, two mines and a detonator from them. Arrested militants have been identified as Abdul Hamid son of Sultan, Ghulam Mohd son of Abdul Aziz, residents of Gujjar Gali and Mohd Iqbal son of Abdul Sattar of Tang Gali.
