2 killed, huge cache of arms seized in J&K

SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed in separate incidents in the Kashmir valley, where BSF personnel recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout, a BSF spokesman said on Monday. On specific information of an arms dump at Kuta forests in Baramulla district, BSF launched a joint operation with army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of local police and seized the weapons, the spokesman said.Describing the seizure as a ''major breakthrough'', he said the recovery included seven AK-47 rifles, five magazines with 1245 rounds, an AK silencer, a sniper rifle with a magazine and 615 rounds, two pistol silencers, seven RPG rounds, 21 60-mm mortar shells, seven rockets, 14 detonators, two smoke grenades and three rifle grenades.In a separate incident, militants shot dead a civilian at Mathihandu in Kokernag area of Anantnag district on Monday.Meanwhile, a fireman injured in a shooting incident in Srinagar three days ago succumbed to injuries in Soura medical institute on Sunday night.
