Nine Lashkar infiltrators killed in Poonch

Jammu: Nineteen militants, including nine top Lashkar-e-Tayyeba activists, were killed and seven security personnel wounded in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. At least nine Lashkar infiltrators were killed at Mosoni in Mendhar district of Poonch in a night-long encounter that ended early Friday. The militants were trying to infiltrate to the Indian side near the LoC when the troops challenged them. The militants opened fire resulting in an encounter. In another shootout in the Hill Kaka forests in Poonch, five Jaish-e- Mohammad men were killed. A self-styled Hizbul commander Aftab Malik and his two associates were killed in an encounter in Lolab area of Kupwara. Another Hizbul militant was killed at Lahan village in Anantnag district. A BSF jawan was also wounded in the exchange of fire. A captured ultra was killed when militants ambushed a security force team carrying him near Srinagar. An Army major and four jawans were wounded, one of them critically, when militants ambushed their convoy near Kalaban in Poonch on Friday.
