Ultras target security camps, 8 killed in J&K

SRINAGAR: Eight persons, including six militants were killed and two others arrested in seperate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir where militants fired rockets and grenades at two security camps in Anantnag and Baramulla districts since Monday night, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. Several rockets and grenades were fired by militants towards the security camps at Wayloo near Kokernag in Anantnag district and Malmoh near Pattan in Baramulla district early on Tuesday, the spokesman said. However, the rockets and grenades exploded short of the targets without causing any casualty or damage. Security personnel fired in retalation but the ultras managed to escape, he said.He said three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Kheneter-Shindhara in border district of Poonch in Jammu region on Tuesday.In another encounter in Poonch, the spokesman said security forces killed an unidentified militant at Bhoriwala Marhote in Surankote area on Monday night.In a pre-dawn raid, the security forces gunned down two militants at Sehpora-Kraligund in Kupwara district, the spokesman said.
