Militants attack security camp in J&K, 5 hurt

JAMMU: Suspected militants attacked an Indian paramilitary camp deep in Jammu and Kashmir wounding five security personnel, police said on Sunday.In a separate attack militants also raided the house of a policeman near Gool in the Udhampur district of southern Kashmir and killed his wife and son, the police official said. Violence in Kashmir is at the centre of a dangerous military stand-off between India and Pakistan, with New Delhi insisting Islamabad give up support to rebels before it recalls its troops from the front line.Government leaders said that there was no sign of a change on the ground in Kashmir despite Pakistan''s promise to crack down on religious extremists.The Central Reserve Police Force camp near Surankote in Poonch district came under fire from guerrillas who attacked from several directions late on Saturday, the police official said.The official said ''the gunbattle lasted for several hours, the terrorists escaped.''
