BSF wipes Hizb hideout, seizes IEDs in valley

Charar-e-Sharief : The BSF unearthed an underground hideout, arrested two Hizbul Mujahideen militants and seized explosives, rockets, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades and wireless sets in the central Kashmir district of Badgam Friday evening. A bsf spokesman said that jawans unearthed a semi-pucca, 10ft by 12ft hideout at village Telisara under Charar-e-Sharief police station area Friday evening. Terrorists Abdul Ahad Ganai and Muzaffar Malik were nabbed and a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including a time bomb, 12 kg of explosives, four wireless sets, eight ieds, nine detonators, five hand grenades, one ak-47, one ak-Su 74, a pistol, one rocket, 20 magazines, 1,000 rounds, two under-barrel grenade launchers and 23 rocket chargers were seized. Meanwhile in another incident, six militants and a BSF sub-inspector were killed in the Kashmir Valley overnight. The two were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants at Awindgund in Pulwama district Friday evening. Two more militants were gunned down by security forces at Rajpora in Pulwama district late Friday night while a foreign militant was shot dead at Badgam in yet another incident. Two militants were killed by security forces during a search operation at Kreeri Doru in Anantnag district Saturday morning, an official spokesperson said. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. A house was damaged when Pakistani troops resorted indiscriminate shelling in the Kargil sector Saturday.
