13 injured in grenade attack

JAMMU: Thirteen persons were injured when a grenade was thrown at a patrolling party in the crowded Hari market area of Jammu city today. A police spokesman told The Hindu here that the grenade missed the target and fell on a Maruti car passing by. The injured have been admitted to the Government Medical College. The area had been cordoned off and police have rushed to the spot. SPO killed A Special Police Officer, Mr. Gulshan Kumar, was killed by militants in his house in Nira Jal area of Jammu region, an Army spokesman said. Elsewhere in the region, a Hizb-ul Mujahideen militant was killed by security forces in Kishtwar area.
