4 killed in cross-border firing

SRINAGAR: Three children - Rubina (5), Shojila (6) and Shehbaz Gujjar (9) - were among four killed in heavy shelling from across the border in Karnah and Uri sector And 13 persons were injured in the shelling which has been on for the last few days in Karnah, Machil, Gurez, Uri and Teetwal sectors . A civilian, Ghulam Mohammad, was killed when the Pakistan troops directed the guns towards his residential area of Chotali in Uri sector. Reports said the Indian side also retaliated. But nothing was known about the casualties on the other side of the border. Tension is mounting along the borders of Jammu and Kashmir following reports of troops build-up on both sides. Many families are reported to have migrated to safer areas. PTI reports from Jammu: Four packets containing suspicious powder were found at the Railway mail sorting office, causing panic among the employees, postal department sources said.
