Jammu: The Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has said that in face of growing public opinion against the menace of terrorism, this evil is bound to face a crushing defeat inspite of difficulties. Addressing a gathering of BJP activists from Doda district and some other militancy infested areas here today who had come to apprise the minister of their problems and sufferings, he said that despite the difficult situation the people should face the terrorists unitedly and with determination. The Union Minister had all the praise for the courage and the bravery with which the people of Doda areas have been facing terrorism and they not only frustrated many attacks in their villages but also in several cases eliminated some dreaded terrorists. He was at pains to say that some dubious characters and elements having controversial past were trying to discourage the members of Village Defence Committees by leveling frivolous charges and said that such persons were doing no service to the people. They are rather indirectly helping the militancy, he added. Without naming the Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Prof Gupta said sometimes he is talking of converting the Line of Control into International border, some times bases are offered to USA in Kashmir and now it is being much talked about smashing of the training camps of the terrorists in Pakistan and Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK). He said th Government of India is ceased with the whole problem and nothing can be done in a haphazard manner. Even the USA had to think hundred times before launching of attacks on Afghanistan. Prof Gupta assured the party workers and others that all of their problems would be taken up with concerned quarters for their redressal.
