Four Lashkar militants killed in Kashmir

Srinagar: Four Pak-based Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and two security personnel were killed in a fierce encounter that lasted for 27-hours in Shovian area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir, official sources said on Friday. The encounter started Wednesday at Baskuchan village after troops of army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of local police raided a militant hideout there, they said. The ultras fired indiscriminately and engaged the search parties for nearly 27 hours before the militants were killed on Thursday night, the sources said. The encounter left four militants and two security personnel dead while two jawans were injured, they said. Bodies of the slain militants along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot and efforts are on to establish their identity, sources said.
