New Delhi: The ambassadors of Belgium, Spain and Denmark will soon visit Jammu and Kashmir. Though the visit of the three ambassadors is said to be a routine, annual exercise, it is the timing of the trip, when the US is building an international coalition to fight terrorism, which has made it seem important. Belgian ambassador Guy Trouveroy will meet Home Secretary Kamal Pande to apprise him of the two-day visit of the envoys starting September 8. All three envoys will meet the Home Secretary and brief him on their tour and what they propose to undertake. The troika will gauge the level of terrorism and the security environment in the troubled State. The ambassadors will also conduct a spot study on the human rights situation. They will interact with senior Army and paramilitary officers stationed in the Valley and in Jammu region. They will also meet people and representatives of social organisations to get a ''comprehensive picture'' of the human rights situation in the State. Home Ministry officials said the tour of envoys from the European Commission (EC) was an annual feature. Belgium holds the presidency of the EC and thus its ambassador here will lead the team.
