SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police, Mr. A. K. Suri has called upon the officers and jawans to beef up security in view of suicide attacks of militants on their camps. Addressing officers of police and SOGs including Station House Officers of Anantnag police range at Anantnag today, the Director General of Police said that considering local police their arch foe, militants have stepped up suicide attacks on police and SOG camps and urged the police officers to mount security and vigilance to pre-empt any suicidal attacks on police-SOG camps and other installations. Reviewing the current security scenario, Mr. Suri said that successes against militancy should not make us complacent at any stage. ''We have to be alert round the clock because militants strike from behind'', the Director General of Police said, adding counter-insurgency operations should be meticulously planned in order to avoid harm and harassment to common masses. Mr. Suri also reviewed the pendency of cases and directed SHOs to expedite investigations and ensure that prosecution stands on a sound footing and punishment is awarded to the guilty by the courts of law. He exhorted SHOs to attend to their primary tasks. Stressing on the sound police-public relations, the Director General of Police asked police officers to interact with people, identify their problems and take measures to redress the grievances of the people on priority. The Director General of Police during his visit to Anantnag also met officers of other security forces deployed in Anantnag police range. The range, it may be pointed out, includes police districts of Pulwama and Awantipora besides Anantnag.
