Nine ultras among twelve killed in Jammu

Jammu: A soldier and nine militants were among 12 people killed and six injured in separate militancy- related incidents in Jammu division since last evening, official sources said here today. In an encounter in ambkoot in Banihal area of DODA district, a jawan Naik Bajan Singh, a civilian and two militants were killed while a jawan and a civilian were seriously injured, they said adding the ultras were identified as Abu Bakar and Abu Akram of Lashker-e-Toiba. The sources said security forces gunned down two militants in DODA and three in forest area of Rajouri district during separate encounters today. An Afghan mercenary's body was fished out of Poonch river, the sources said adding the ultra was trying to cross the river after infiltrating from Mandi sector. Police recovered the body of a civilian, Lal Hussain, who was kidnaped by ultras from Madana village in Surankote Tehsil on Tuesday night, from a forest area in the Tehsil in Poonch. A Pakistani intruder was shot dead by BSF troops in Samba sector, they said. Four civilians, including three women, were injured in an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in Zanihal area of DODA, the sources said. Meanwhile, two Kashmiri youth - Manzoor Ahmed and Riaz Ahmed - who were being forcibly taken to Pakistan for arms training by let militants, escaped from captivity and surrendered before police in Surankote, they added.
