NEW DELHI: Founder of JKLF and hijacker of an Indian Airlines plane in 1971, Hashim Qureshi on Tuesday night dismissed the claims of Hurriyat Conference that the amalgam could influence the militant organisations operating from Pakistan. "I don"t think the Hurriyat Conference controls the militant organisations. They are controlled by Pakistan and cannot be influenced by the amalgam leadership," Qureshi, who is undergoing treatment at AIIMS, said. Qureshi, who later formed his own Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberation Front, said Hurriyat Conference was representing only 10 to 15 per cent of Kashmiri population. He said majority of people in Kashmir wanted independence and not accession with Pakistan. (PTI)
