Militants ambush Army vehicle, 8 killed in JK

Jammu: Militants ambushed an Army vehicle killing two personnel and injuring five others while four militants were among six persons killed and 12 kg RDX seized in the Kashmir Valley since Monday. Militants opened indiscriminate fire on an Army vehicle in Gursai-Surankote area of Poonch district last night injuring seven Army men two of whom succumbed to injuries, official sources said here today. Two Lasher-e-Toiba militants were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Pattan area of Baramulla district. In separate encounters with security personnel one militant identified as Shamsher Khan was killed in Batala village of Banihal while another militant Tariq Hussain was shot dead in Gandoh area of Doda district. A number of arms and ammunition were recovered from them. BSF personnel shot dead an intruder in Nowapind area and arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen militant Manzoor Ahmad Rather after he sustained leg injuries in an exchange of fire with them in Sopore area of Baramulla. Militants hurled a grenade on a Rashtriya Rifles vehicle in Ganderbal area near here. Howver, no one was injured in the attack. During search operations security personnel seized 12 kg RDX and two solar rockets from Loharkha in Rajouri district.
