Top Hizb ultra among five killed in JK

Srinagar: A top Hizbul Mujahideen militant and three members of a family were among five people killed in the Kashmir Valley, where militants triggered four grenade explosions since last night, an official spokesman said on Monday. A top Hizbul Mujahideen identified as Ghulam Qqadir Nnajaralias "Mudasir Fazli", wanted in a large number of militancy-related incidents, was shot dead by the Special Operations Group (SOG) at Kawari-Jagarpora village in Kupwara today. An AK assault rifle, a wireless set and some ammunition were recovered from him, he said. Militants barged into the house of one, Ghulam Ahmad Lone, at Kraligund in Kupwara today and shot dead three members of his family, the spokesman said adding the motive behind the killing was not known. Another Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Abdul Rashid Khanwas killed in an encounter at Batapora in Anantnag district last night. An AK rifle, two grenades and some ammunition were recovered from him. A civilian was injured when militants exploded a grenade at Bandipora bus stand in Baramulla district this afternoon, the spokesman said. Militants also hurled a grenade towards a passing security vehicle at Jawahar Nagar in uptown Srinagar today which, exploded on the road wounding a pedestrian, he said. Earlier, ultras hurled a grenade at a BSF picket at Souraon the outskirts of Srinagar last night wounding two jawans. Militants also fired few rifle grenades towards a BSF post at Hillar in Kokernag area of Anantnag last evening. None was hurt in the attack, the spokesman said.
