SPO killed, 25 injured in J&K blast

Srinagar: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed and 25 others were injured in a powerful blast triggered by militants outside the office of a senior police officer in Kashmir on Thursday. Official sources said militants detonated an explosive device near the main gate of the office of Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, around 4.00 P.M. injuring 26 people, including three policemen. The injured were rushed to hospital where SPO Ghulam Mohammad Wani was declared brought dead, they said. No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibilityfor the blast. Tension gripped Anantnag district town where shopkeepers downed shutters immediately after the blast, they said.
