Official sources said the two fidayeen used the cover of rocket fire to enter the camp belonging to the 8 Jammu and Kash-mir Light Infantry at around 4 am hours after cutting the fence. They threw grenades and fired indiscriminately. The two intruders and Subedar Tara Chand, Subedar Shri Ram, Lance Naik Gandhi Ram and Rifleman Surender Singh were killed.
