Militants bomb NC leader's house

Srinagar: Militants exploded a powerful bomb inside the house of a National Conference leader injuring four members of his family in the Kashmir valley where three persons were killed in separate incidents since Tuesday night. A powerful explosive planted by militants went off in the house of NC activist Ali Mohammad Bhat in Chrar-e-Sharief Tuesday night injuring his wife, two sons and his sister, official sources said here on Wednesday. His house was also damaged in the powerful explosion, they said. In another incident, militants shot dead a former police officer Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh in Badgam district Tuesday night. A militant, in custody of security personnel, was killed in an exchange of fire between securitymen and militants in Pothkah village of Baramulla, the sources said. However, family members of the militant alleged that he was killed during interrogation. Body of one Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, shot dead by militants, was found in Haripora village in Kupwara district on Wednesday morning, the sources said. While three counter insurgents were injured in a militant attack in Pattan area, one woman was injured in a blast outside her house in Waripora-Bahlipora in Baramulla district. In Anantnag district, militants hurled a grenade on an ITBp patrol party but no one was injured in the explosion.
