Militants" jehad vow in Riyadh

Washington DC: Leaders of Pakistan-based militant groups, ostensibly on pilgrimage to Mecca, during a meeting in Jeddah vowed to continue their "jehad" (holy war) in Kashmir, media reports said. The secret conclave was attended by Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, a representative of Lashkar-e-Toiba and two Taliban representatives, US-based Indian American weekly "Asia Observer" said. It said the meeting, held without the patronage of the ruling Saudi royal family, was organised between January 3 and 5. "Jehad in Kashmir figured at the meeting with pan-Islamic groups advocating continuing violence in Jammu and Kashmir," the newspaper said. It said that the militant groups "vowed to continue their jehad in Kashmir."
