2 killed in fidayeen attack on Kashmir Army camp

Srinagar: AT LEAST two Army personnel were killed when a group of fidayeen (suicidal squad) stormed an Army camp popularly known as CMP checkpost, hardly 100 yards away from the venue of the Republic Day function in Baramulla, about 55 kms from here today, official sources said. However, the Republic Day functions in the north Kashmir passed off peacefully. Jammu and Kashmir minister for law and parliamentary affairs P L Handoo took the salute at the main function, the sources said. Earlier in the day, militants fired four rifle grenades within 20 minutes in the main chowk of Baramulla town, sources said. The first grenade fired around 8:20 am exploded at the cement bridge while another exploded in the main chowk injuring a policeman. Two other grenades exploded in midair, causing no damage, the sources said.
