Militants bid to blow up J&K mosque foiled

Srinagar: Militants made an abortive attempt to blow up a mosque and two security pickets even as three ultras were killed in the Kashmir since Sunday evening. An official spokesman said that a live grenade was found near Jamia Masjid Bhella-Thathri in Doda district of Jammu on Sunday evening. The device was neutralised by police before it could cause any damage to the mosque, he added. Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen, identified as Abdul Rashid Dar and Tiger were killed when security forces returned the fire after being attacked by ultras at Sarandoo-Kulgam in Anantnag district. He said another militant belonging to Al-Burq outfit Lateef Chopan was killed in a retaliatory action by security forces at Shanipora-Wilgam in Kupwara district on Monday.
