Jammu: FORMER CHAIRMAN of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will perform the religious rites of nikkah of Abdul Ghani Lone’s son, Sajjad, to Amanullah Khan’s daughter, Asma, in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Lone conformed this to The Hindustan Times today over the telephone. The Mirwaiz and another senior Hurriyat Conference leader Moulvi Abbas Ansari will fly to Islamabad from Doha where the two were attending the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC). Delighted after getting his passport, Mr Lone started preparing for a visit to Pakistan to attend his younger son’s wedding. Until recently, Lone had given up all hope of ever travelling to Pakistan or making it to his son’s wedding. Despite his requests and appeals to the National Human Rights Commission his travel documents were being withheld. “Inshallah (God willing) I will travel to Pakistan tomorrow and attend my son’s wedding,” he said. Many prominent people of Jammu and Kashmir will attend the wedding. These include journalists who have been invited by both the sides. Lone’s wife, elder son Bilal and a couple of relatives are already in Pakistan for the wedding. Ms Lone carried with her jewellery and some typical Kashmiri handicraft items for her would be daughter-in-law. “She has taken whatever is needed on such occasions,” Lone said. When asked if he was taking anything special for the couple or the bride, Lone replied, “Good wishes.”
