Biggest ever haul of RDX in 11 years

Srinagar: In the biggest ever haul of the dreaded explosive in last 11 years, security forces today recovered 315 kg of RDX from the old city. In other developments, 12 persons have been killed across Jammu and Kashmir since Sunday. An official spokesman said that the security forces raided a godown of a carrier company at Zaina Kadal on Sunday and recovered 315 kg of RDX. The explosive was transported from Najibabad in Uttar Pradesh via Delhi to Srinagar in eight packages and was awaiting delivery to the militants. The explosives were meant for targeting State Government offices and other disruptive activities in the valley, the spokesman said adding that this was the second such haul in the last three months. Twelve persons, including four foreign militants, have been killed in various incidents across the State in the past 24 hours. A police spokesman said that two foreign militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit - both residents of Pakistan - were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Ugjan Dialgam. Two persons were injured in the exchange of fire. Two more foreign militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Haigam in Baramulla district, while four unidentified militants were killed at Uploo, Bijhama near the LoC. Two militants were killed at Kumkadi Behak (Haihama). On Sunday night, militants shot dead Ghulam Rasool Malik at Tangwani Kokernang. He was associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen.
