SRINAGAR: The arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) president Shabir Ahmad Shah, along with 10 supporters and a general strike in Kashmir marked the 16th death anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat on Friday.
The police took into custody Shah and his supporters when they tried to take out a procession from their headquarters at Rajbagh here, official sources said. Raising slogans and carrying placards, they were on way to the local UN military observers' group office at Sonawar.
Shah and his supporters resisted the arrest. Policemen also raided the headquarters of JKDFP and arrested one of their top leaders, Mohammad Saleem Geelani. (PTI)
