Two middle-rung officials of the National Conference (NC) and two children were killed in Baramulla district as militants appeared to have to have stepped up violence in Kashmir.
Militants shot dead NC block president Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir at Wagoora village when be was alighting from the party's campaign vehicle. His party colleague, Abdull Rehman Lone, was killed in the firing.
With the polling over in the Srinagar parliamentary constituency on Saturday, the focus has shifted to Anantnag and Baramulla constituencies in the Kashmir Valley and the Udhampur- Doda Lok Sabha seat in the Jammu region. The police have identified sensitive areas in the three constituencies which go to the polls on March 7.
