The director-general of the Jammu & Kashmir Police, Mr. Gurbachan Jagat, said the Pakistan Inter Service Intelligence Agency was now focusing on the Jammu division to launch a fresh proxy war.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Jagat said in three recent operations police had nabbed six militants, four of them Pakistani nationals. During the interrogation it became clear that the ISI was now depending on Pakistani nationals and foreign mercenaries to create disturbances in Jammu region. Despite serious attempts made from across the border, the Jammu city has remained incident-free for the past one year, because of active policing.

The ISI has established a base in Sialkot where it had gathered militants to  infiltrate them into the Jammu region. Top activists of Harkat-ul-Ansar also tried to recruit local youths to set off fresh explosions in and and around Jammu city during the Republic Day celebrations but all of them have been arrested.
